Questions You Thought Physics Couldn’t Answer!

1816-fitandcrop-890x502Ever heard you shouldn’t sleep facing North? Felt dizzy on a swing? Had just a “bad day” when you were low for no reason at all? Ever heard a healthy person had paralysis while asleep?

Well, maybe, there is a reason behind it all!

The body produces its own very complex electrical activity. Wherever there is electrical activity, there is also a magnetic field. This is basic physics and applies to all life. Our body has a magnetic field wherein the head is the north pole and the feet form the south pole. These magnetic fields are extremely tiny—so tiny that they are easily obscured by the surrounding planetary and environmental fields. These natural internal electrical and magnetic fields of the body regulate all the body’s processes and interact with one another.

Living organisms react to the Earth´s magnetic field continuously; however, such reactions are not very intense. If we disturb the natural state of an organism using a strong magnetic field, it is quite obvious that the organism will respond to the stimulus with a strong reaction as well.

When the body is positioned horizontally, you can immediately make out that your pulse rate drops. The body makes this adjustment because if blood is pumped at the same level, too much will go into your head, causing damage. Now, if you place your head to the north and stay that way for 5 to 6 hours, the magnetic pull will cause pressure on your brain. If you are beyond a certain age and your blood vessels are weak, you could have hemorrhages and paralytic strokes. Or, if your system is sturdy and these things don’t happen to you, you could get up agitated because there is more circulation in the brain than there should be when you are sleeping. You will feel miserable. Irritability, frustration and emotional instability will develop. It creates disturbance in human body which has high iron content (hemoglobin) and brings diseases. So the next time you think sleeping in a particular direction is just a myth, think again!

Elecrtomagnetic Forces(EMFs) are strongest when close to their source. When you are inside your home, the magnetic fields from high voltage power lines and transformer boxes are often weaker than those from household electrical appliances.

On a daily basis, people are exposed to EMFs generated by household wiring, lighting, and any electrical appliance that plugs into the wall, including hair dryers, vacuum cleaners and toasters. In the workplace, common sources of EMFs include computers, air purifiers, photocopiers, fax machines, fluorescent lights, electric heaters, and electric tools in machine shops, such as drills, power saws, lathes and welding machines.

Are They Harmful?

When magnetism was first being explored, people believed that a strong magnetic field would cause no serious harm to the human body. However, as was proven later, people who have worked for some time exposed to strong artificial magnetic fields in factories (working with welding devices or electromagnetic furnaces) often suffer from pathological changes in their bodies, for example, peeling skin, permanently red skin, irregular heart rhythm, loss of appetite, lassitude, headaches and intensive sweating etc.

All magnets have two poles, one positive and one negative. In 1974 Albert Roy Davis, Ph.D., noted that positive and negative magnetic polarities have different effects upon the biological systems of both animals and humans. Davis then concluded that negative magnetic fields have a beneficial effect on living organisms, whereas positive magnetic fields have a stressful effect. A positive magnetic pole, with prolonged exposure, interferes with metabolic functioning, produces acidity, reduces cellular oxygen supply, and encourages replication of latent microorganisms. Positive magnetic fields can increase pain due to their interference with normal metabolic functions.

Magnetism is not felt by the human senses in any obvious way, nor is there any substantial evidence that it is harmful. Yet it does have subtle effects on vision and heart performance. Magnetic fields can cause faint flickering visual sensations, called phosphenes (phenomenon characterized by the experience of seeing light without light actually entering the eye.) or even stimulate nerves and muscles, although these effects occur at levels many thousands of times higher than those encountered in buildings. Probably the best-known sensory effect of magnetism is shown in total darkness, when the head of a person whose eyes are fully adapted to the dark is put between the poles of an alternating current magnet. As the field strength is increased, the person will begin to see a faint glow around the visual periphery. When the field is reduced, the glow vanishes.

In the neighborhood of the giant magnets in some laboratories visitors can feel the pull on nails in their shoes!

Do Solar Flares Affect Us?

A solar flare is a magnetic storm on the Sun which appears to be a very bright spot and a gaseous surface eruption. Solar flares release huge amounts of high-energy particles and gases that are tremendously hot. They are ejected thousands of miles from the surface of the Sun. There appears to be a direct connection between the Sun’s solar storms and human biological effect.

Solar flares affect the Central Nervous System (stomach lining), all brain activity (including equilibrium), along with human behaviour and all psycho-physiological (mental-emotional-physical) response. Solar flares can cause us to be nervous, anxiousness, worrisome, jittery, dizzy, shaky, irritable, lethargic, exhausted, have short term memory problems and heart palpitations, feel nauseous, queasy, and to have prolonged head pressure and headaches. They can make us feel hyper and exhausted all at the same time. We seem to be losing track of time easily. We lose words when we are speaking. The day simply disappears. We cannot sleep well. There is lots of tossing and turning in the night and many are have unusual dreams. Many feel deep grief. Some feel like they were walking on water (ungrounded). Others say when they close their eyes at night, everything is spinning. There have been visual disturbances, inner ear issues, ringing in ears, throat and thyroid issues, cold feet and even a weird symptom of having tongue dryness. Imagine the amount of turmoil, something 150 million km away from us, could cause!

Are Magnetic Fields Beneficial?

Today, people spend most of their time in buildings and cars, reducing their exposure to natural geomagnetic fields of the earth, which may interfere with their health. This condition, that they subsequently suffer from, is often called magnetic field deficiency syndrome, which can cause headaches, dizziness, muscle stiffness, chest pain, insomnia, constipation, and general fatigue.

Static magnetic fields are produced by natural or artificial magnets. Pulsating magnets are generated entirely by electrical devices. According to William H. Philpott, M.D., of Choctwaw, Oklahoma, magnetic fields can stimulate metabolism and increase the amount of oxygen available to the cells of the body. Dr. Philpott pioneered the use of magnetic therapy for psychiatric disorders. The biological value of oxygen is increased by the influence of a negative electromagnetic field, and the field causes the negatively charge DNA to “pull” the oxygen out of the bloodstream and into the cell. The negative electromagnetic field keeps a cellular buffer system (pH or acid-base balance) intact so that cells remain alkaline; pathogenic microorganisms cannot survive in a well-oxygenated, alkaline environment. Also, magnetotherapy can increase enzyme action because it fosters a favorable environment within cells (mainly a proper pH).

A negative magnetic field applied to the top of the head has a calming, sleep-inducing effect on brain and body functions, due to the stimulation of the production of the hormone melatonin. Melatonin is antistressful, antiaging, antiinfectious, anticancerous, and has control over respiration and the production of free radicals (highly destructive molecules that are missing one electron, and readily react with other molecules). Free radicals can lead to decreased efficiency of protein synthesis.

Science can offer a logical explanation for each and everything you could ever imagine! All you need is continuous curiosity!
