Bilawal Bhutto goes gaga over Kashmir and later becomes a butt of jokes all around the world. Seems like people have shown him his real position. Seeing stars in the day time really now, Mr. Bhutto? The readers get to decide whether Pappu passed or failed.
“I will take back Kashmir, all of it, and I will not leave behind a single inch of it, because, like other provinces, it belongs to Pakistan.”
Did that statement leave an effect on your mind? Well, it certainly sent a chill down my spine. The statement mentioned above in quotes was spoken by Mr. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari (Like a Boss, eh?), the son of the former President of Pakistan, Mr. Asif Ali Zardari and the late Benazir Bhutto who served as the Prime Minister of Pakistan twice. His ambitious words surely provided comic relief specially when Comedy Nights with Kapil chose to not air over this weekend.

To me, he seems like that hungry kid who wishes to cut the birthday cake just to grab the first bite, Stupid and Obnoxious indeed. He may have wanted to sound like a mature and an idealist politician but ended up making a fool out of himself in front of the whole world. His statement will always be remembered in the history of politics under the sub-heading of “politicians pmsing” .
Bilawal Bhutto, who heads the secular Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) wishes to contest in the 2018 Pak General Elections from his mother’s constituency (NA-207). His major aim is to bring the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in power since the party suffered defeat by a huge margin last year. His statement is in complete contrast to what his party states otherwise; to ‘officially’ want good ties and relations with India. Bilawal Bhutto was once supposed to be the next big thing in the political market of Pakistan after Benazir Bhutto’s death. However, his statement now seems like a fireball fired towards himself through a canon. Boom! He may have wanted to become the goody good boy but he has become that “spoilt little ignorant kid” for most of us.
The collective outbreak and response of India to Bhutto’s response was how his plan is far from reality. The statement may have made no sense to us Indians, but its surely brought around the feeling of oneness, unity, belonging and the ‘idea of Nation’ as one body and soul. What becomes problematic is the fact that even today we need such interference from foreign bodies to make us realise that we are one above all (unity) and individuals after that. The controversial statement was made in Multan in front of all the party workers, four days after Bilawal Bhutto announced to contest the 2018 elections. Bhartiya Janta Party’s leader Subramanian Swamy attacked the remark made by the ‘young fish’ in the pond and stated that India is capable of destroying Pakistan but is not in favour of a war. He out rightly labelled Bilawal Bhutto’s statement as “irresponsible and immature” and emphasised on the non violence agenda. Syed Akbaruddin, spokesperson in the External Ministry stated, “We are in a process of looking forward and looking forward does not mean that our borders will be changed. The integrity and unity of India is non-negotiable”.
The dispute over Kashmir is not new and has carried its baggage along with it since the Partition of 1947. Pakistan claims its rights over Kashmir because of the majority of the Muslim population whereas certain proposals for complete independence have been put forward by Kashmir. Pakistan has participated in three wars with India in an attempt to take over Kashmir, which includes the Indo-Pakistan War of 1947, 1965 and 1999. According to the 2010 report, India administers approximately 43% of the region whereas Pakistan controls over 37% of the region known as Azad Kashmir and the Northern areas of Gilgit Baltistan. The elections of 2008 resulted in the formation of pro India Jammu & Kashmir Conference which later formed the state government. The majority saw the high turnout of the voters, in spite of the threats from the militants for a boycott, as a symbol of people wanting an Indian rule over the state. However, Sajjad Lone, well known separatist leader stated, “The high turnout should not be taken as a sign of that Kashmir no longer want independence.”
Mr. Bilawal Bhutto soon became the butt of jokes on social media after his statement was ‘praised’ throughout the world. His statement won him various titles which ranged from a “damsel in distress” to a “pompous amateur”. To make things even worse, he was even addressed as “Pakistan’s Rahul Gandhi”.
People created parallels between Mamma’s boy, Rahul Gandhi and the “young fish”, Bilawal Bhutto. Rahul Gandhi has been ‘praised’ a lot of times like Bhutto was this time, on the print, social and the electronic media. Both Bilawal Bhutto and Rahul Gandhi have been acknowledged as Youth leaders. The irony of the two being recognized as youth leaders, is, that they seem to be young in their approach and maturity level since both of them never think before they speak and are always surrounded by controversies. The two not only have an inherited legacy in politics but also have respective degrees from the most renowned universities over the entire world. While Rahul Gandhi has Harvard University, Rollins College and the Trinity College, Cambridge listed as his Alma mater, Bilawal Bhutto has the tag Oxford attached to him. Guess the university education did them no good !
The treatment Rahul Gandhi gets from the public in India is no different to the way people reacted to Bhutto’s remark on Kashmir. The two seem to be on the same track.
The two of them have also been regarded as the most eligible bachelors, in ‘hunt’ of a suitable Dulhaniya (bride)! Dil Wale dulhaniya kab le jayenge? Hope Mommy likes what Rahul ji proposes. Where one has been famous for not living up to the promises made, the other has lived up to the expectation of not keeping any control on his tongue. Kudos! Long way to go, the direction however is still unknown. No matter where you land up in politics; just remember one thing for life. NO ULLU-BANA-ING! (Don’t fool us).
