Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], September 26: India’s wedding services market is estimated at $139.33 billion in 2026, according to Custom Market Insights. As weddings become larger, more personalised and spread across multiple days, an increasingly organised ecosystem has grown around them, from catering and décor to photography, entertainment and wedding planning.
Yet one part of the experience remains surprisingly improvised: where guests stay once the celebrations wind down.
When a wedding brings together dozens of relatives for several days, the practical question is often still the same: where will everyone sleep, and how do you make enough space for them to stay comfortably?
Hotels are the obvious answer. But for families that want their guests close to the celebration, they can also create a distance that the rest of the wedding has spent months trying to avoid. Early-morning rituals, meals between ceremonies and conversations that continue long after the formal events are over are all part of what makes a wedding a family gathering. Splitting guests across hotels can change that experience.
“The hotel is a practical solution that solves the wrong problem,” says Gali Arundar Sai, Founder and CEO of HostMyGuest. “Families want their guests close. They want the wedding to feel like a family gathering, not a managed event. When you split the family between the house and a hotel, you lose some of what makes the occasion feel like a family gathering.”
This is the problem HostMyGuest is looking to address through On-Demand Furnishing for hosting – helping families prepare homes, additional flats and other spaces for guests for the period they are needed.
For a three-day wedding, for instance, an additional flat that would otherwise sit unused can be prepared as a comfortable guest space. Instead of arranging individual items from different sources, the host can plan the setup around the number of guests, the space available and how long they will be staying. HostMyGuest coordinates the setup and pickup around the guest dates.
The distinction is important. The requirement is rarely just for a mattress, cot or chair. The underlying need is to make a space work for people who are staying there.
“We built our platform around the host’s timeline, not ours,” says Subhash Chunduri, Founder and CTO of HostMyGuest. “The booking process takes minutes. The setup is planned around when the guests are arriving, and collection happens after they leave. The idea is to take away one more thing the host has to coordinate during an already busy occasion.”
Launched in April 2026, HostMyGuest says it has served more than 1000 guests across events in Hyderabad in its first six months, entirely through referrals. The company operates across neighbourhoods including Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, HITEC City, Kondapur, Begumpet and Charminar.
The opportunity extends beyond weddings. Pujas, housewarmings, family visits and other gatherings can create the same short-term challenge: a home may have the people and the occasion, but not necessarily the space or setup required to accommodate everyone comfortably.
That makes the question larger than where wedding guests sleep. As India’s celebrations become more elaborate and families continue to live in homes that may not always have room for large gatherings, there is a growing need for ways to make existing spaces work differently for a few days or weeks.
For decades, families have found their own ways to accommodate visiting relatives – moving furniture around, borrowing mattresses, using spare rooms or finding accommodation nearby. Those solutions work, but they remain largely informal and irrelevant for modern families.
HostMyGuest is building around the idea that this part of hosting can be organised too.
The proposition is simple: when guests are coming, the space should be ready for them.
That could mean preparing an additional flat for wedding guests, making a spare room comfortable for visiting relatives or setting up a space for a family gathering. The furniture is only one part of the equation. The larger service is helping the host make room for the people they want to have close.
As India’s wedding ecosystem becomes increasingly organised, HostMyGuest is turning the next piece of the experience — hosting — into something just as easy to plan.
