What Are The Rates?
While the overall literacy rate works out to be 64.8 %, the male literacy rate is 75.3% and that for females is 53.7%, showing a gap of 21.6 percentage points between the sexes at the national level.
If we talk about the basic indicators of a functional society, literacy and education levels come at the top. The urbans have taken to provide the necessary measures for girl child education but what about the rural?
Most of India’s rural population is not yet ready to send off its women on the path to progress. Although the future seems bleak since women aren’t “allowed” to receive education or be literate enough to grow up into independent individuals, some of the states have opened up to the possibility of increasing their female literacy rate.
