In Pics: Eeriest Tourist Destinations In India For Adventure Lovers

These places are as beautiful as they are eerie!

India is home to several beautiful places and terrains, ranging from islands to deserts, and snow-clad mountains! India welcomes several tourists from across the world every year who come looking for various experiences.

Adventure lovers often want to go to places that are not visited by many. While India is an extremely popular exotic tourist destination, there are several dangerous, eerie, and adventurous places that not many know about.

Here are a few not-so-well-known tourist destinations in India for adventure lovers.

1. Pamban Bridge, Tamil Nadu

Though it ain’t technically a tourist destination, this list would be incomplete without including the famous Pamban Bridge in the world. The view from the bridge is as breathtakingly beautiful as dangerous as the journey on it is.

2. Chambal Valley, Madhya Pradesh

These dense forests are frequently avoided by locals due to the dangers lurking there. Several buses and tourist vehicles have been subjected to bandit attacks. Reports of people going missing have also surfaced upon investigation.

3. Thar Desert, Rajasthan

The desert covers around 60% of Rajasthan and also comprises a section of the India-Pakistan border. A large part of the desert is protected but it is very easy to get lost in this desert.

A beautiful yet extremely dangerous place, the desert plays a major role in Rajasthani culture.

4. Siju, Meghalaya

Among the most beautiful places in Meghalaya, no other place can be as mysterious as the Siju caves. It is more than 7 km long and has several mineral deposits.

Most of the cave is filled with water and nobody knows what kind of surprises lay in store for them while visiting the cave.

5. Hemis National Park, Ladakh

This place should definitely be visited for a frosty forest experience. One of the coldest forests in India, it is also extremely dangerous due to the snow leopard population of the region.

While the species are protected yet abundant, it is a crime to harm the leopards. It is suggested that tourists do not venture out alone and meet these wild beasts.

6. Dumas Beach, Gujarat

The beach is well known for its extremely eerie vibes and a more eerie reason for its colour. While naturally beautiful at day, the place is equally quiet and eerie at night and not many venture out to the beach after sunset.

7. Kuldhara Village, Rajasthan

Imagine a village in the outskirts of a city, completely desolate yet beautiful. Kuldhara, or the haunted village, is the crux of several folktales of Rajasthan and it is said that nobody can stay there for an entire night. Even locals don’t visit the place at night.

8. Rohtang Pass, Himachal Pradesh

The valley has been well known for its beauty, but not many know how dangerous the place is. With several hairpin curves and extremely bad weather conditions, Rohtang Pass is for those who love adventure drives and don’t hesitate to take risks.

9. Nicobar Islands

While many know about the famous Andaman Islands and their picturesque beauty, little is known about the Nicobar islands, which are equally beautiful, but way more dangerous.

10. Phutgal Gompa, Ladakh

Another gem adding to the beauty of Ladakh, this monastery is equally adventurous, or at least the journey towards it is.

The locals are immune to the steep terrain but people with ample hiking experience also consider visiting the monastery a challenge.

These places are undoubtedly adventurous and beautiful. We would advise aspiring visitors to do their research before visiting the place for sure. Do you know of any other place that deserves to be on the list? Let us know by commenting below.
