Greta Thunberg’s G-Doc Toolkit On How To Protest Gets Tweeted, Taken Down After It Backfires

Farmers' Protest or International Propaganda?

Greta Thunberg, Swedish environmental activist

January 26 witnessed violent protests and the entire nation got shaken up. The Republic Day riots created an uproar among the public which escalated after the half-informed support of various artists, both for and against the cause.

Among the public figures who supported and tried to justify the blasphemous act of the Red Fort siege, much like the US Capitol siege, the difference being that the former was justified while the latter got criticized, was Greta T. E. E. Thunberg.

Greta is a renowned Swedish environmental activist who has been in the news for challenging world leaders regarding climate change issues. She has had worldwide support for the intent of goodwill towards nature. She takes a stand on various issues and strives for a better, safer, and healthier world.

But one tweet of Greta stood out and has taken the social media by storm. Not just has it gone viral but also caused outrage among the ones advocating against the protest and the to-and-fro bashing has got a whole new bar.

What Did Greta Tweet?

In her recent tweet, Greta provided the audience with a ‘toolkit’ that talked about the widespread protests over the same issue across the world. As soon as Twitter started calling her out over the tweet, it got restricted and then taken down.

The tweet that caused outrage

The document had details about January 26 and other street protests. The online crowd started talking about how these protests have no ground and are just a part of an entirely different conspiracy against India on an international level.

Many Indian celebrities took to Twitter to put forth their opinion, namely, Sachin Tendulkar, Karan Johar, Ajay Devgan, Akshay Kumar, and a few more. They said that the nation cannot be divided by foreign forces who are here just to fulfill their propaganda.

What Was Wrong With The Tweet?

While providing solidarity towards the ongoing farmers’ protest and rightfully so, since the farmers have been suffering for a very long time, Greta along with many other artists, came to the limelight by raising a voice against the injustice, from overseas.

But one demand in this far-reaching protest got overlooked by her. Or perhaps, she was not fully aware of what the protestors were asking for. The demand being that stubble be allowed to burn. And this is exactly what she has been advocating against since day 1.

Stubble burning is intentionally setting straw stubble on fire that remains after grains have been harvested. This burning is a big issue when it comes to climate preservation and pollution control.

Another point being, the talk of the protests being staged had already been circulating and this tweet further ignited the flame. This is being interpreted as a pre-planned attack on India’s sovereignty and the intentions of forces behind these protests are being noted as hazardous.

Siding with the ones being oppressed is not wrong, but proper awareness needs to be incorporated before any major step is taken.

Raising a voice against injustice to anyone, anywhere, and amplifying their voice is our moral duty but the step taken should be with absolutely no self-interest and only for the welfare. People reacted to the tweets quite heavily.

In response to Greta’s ‘toolkit’ containing tweet
Throwing shade at the pre-planned protest
Taking a jibe at Riri while accusing the protest to be staged and paid
Exposing the political influence over the farmers’ protest
Another tweet expressing distrust over the mass protest
Sadhguru tweeted about the foreign involvement

Who is to say whether the propaganda-intended, going-with-the-flow tweets are the reason for this uproar or the genuineness of the artists that has made the ones advocating against the protestors anxious.
