Bizarre: 18 Year Old Sues Parents For Posting Pictures Of Her As A Baby

Okay, so I’m one of the lucky few whose parents are not active on any notable social networking platform. But I’ve seen my friends worried sick about something being posted online which they did not want their tech-savvy parents to witness.

It gets even worse when they start posting embarrassing pictures of you. But a similar incident in Austria has escalated to an unheard level. An 18-year-old has sued her parents for posting baby pictures. (No, really)

She has decided to take her parents to court after trying to convince them to remove hundreds of embarrassing photos of her from their Facebook account.

The girl, whose name has not been publically released, claims that her father and mother had been uploading photos of her on their separate accounts for the past four years as a child. The pictures included her being bathed and potty trained. (this just keeps on getting weirder)

“They knew no shame and no limits,” She said in a statement to Austrian newspaper Heute. “They didn’t care if I was sitting on the toilet or lying naked in the cot, every moment was photographed and made public,” she continued. Yes, because this is exactly as shameless as someone can get.

According to the father, as the photographer of the picture, he has the right to decide how the photos will be utilized (mah life mah rules much?). However, the girl states that she was in no way comfortable with them sharing such private photos with their 700 Facebook friends.

Now an 18 years old, the girl has decided to use her newfound adult status to drag her parents to court. And surprisingly, if the girl wins, the parents will be forced to pay her for privacy breach as well as cover her legal fees. Because losing a court case to your own flesh and blood isn’t enough, right?

The parents from all over the world might look at the incident and think 10 times before posting any childhood pictures of their children in the future. It’s not as simple as upsetting them anymore, you could end up paying a hefty amount!

As absurd as this incident is, I can sympathize with both the sides. I would not in a million years want my parents to upload embarrassing pictures of me online. Yet, if some parents do decide to upload them should the children go as far as the court?!

I get it, the girl was embarrassed, but suing your parents for such a trivial matter is absolutely ridiculous.
