Ask your grandmother about Andaman and Nicobar Islands. If she has heard the name for the first time, ask about Kalapaani. Chances are, she will understand that you mean an island in the middle of the sea which is infamous for its torture in their popular imagination.
We, on the other hand, know the Andaman Island only for its serenity. But there is a disturbing history that is associated with the place.
It is even more interesting when I tell you that the history is connected with the Independence struggle of our people.
