Ever since being appointed as Crown Prince to the throne last year, Mohammed bin Salman has constantly been in the media eye due to his controversial and progressive views and rules.
Mere months into taking his seat as the First Deputy Prime Minister and the Defence Minister of Saudi Arabia, the Crown Prince took harsh steps to curb down the corruption, abolish an age-old rule of not letting women drive and paint dreams of a country that is more than just the oil within it.
Mohammed bin Salman is currently in the news for his extremely opposite views on the Palestinians and Israelis when he said, “I believe the Palestinians and the Israelis have the right to have their own land. But we have to have a peace agreement to assure the stability for everyone and to have normal relations,” in an interview to The Atlantic.
He said this in answer to being asked if Jewish people had any right to a nation-state in a part of their homeland of their ancestors.
His remarks are quite contradictory to the stand that Saudi Arabia has always taken by not recognizing Israel. Tension has always been present between the two regions, but Salman’s statements hint towards perhaps their relations taking a more positive turn.
For the youth of Saudi, the crown prince has been a beacon of hope that will surely turn around the stereotyped image of the country and the man in question seems to be trying his level best at rising up to the expectations.
Let us take a look at some of the reforms that have come under his rule that give us all the impression that Saudi Arabia is not going to lie low anymore and instead is barreling towards some much-needed change:
1. Women Driving
2. First Comic Con In Saudi Arabia
3. Tackling Corruption
4. Women In Sports Stadiums
5. 35 Year Old Cinema Ban No More
6. Vision 2030
7. Focus On Youth And Women Empowerment
