Reliance Jio Has Tweaked Its Plans To Combat Allegations

-

Reliance Jio, led by Mukesh Ambani, is offering some of the most outrageous services to its customers until the 31st of December under its ‘welcome offer’. A free sim, free voice calls, free 4G unlimited data with a relatively high cap of 4GB a day, could you ask for anything more?

Such services have irked the rival networks due to the simple fact that they are losing a significant amount of customers and money. Also, they cannot afford to compete with the offers of Reliance Jio.

In an attempt to curtail Jio, the rival networks claimed that the welcome offer broke existing laws. Apparently, according to the by-laws set by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), no welcome offer can be offered for a time period exceeding 90 days.

If Jio’s welcome offer were to be limited to 90 days, it would end on 3rd December. But Reliance has managed to find a loophole in the guidelines.

They have set the last date to avail the welcome offer as 3rd December but all those who subscribed within that time period will get to enjoy free services until 31st December.

Meaning, all those who subscribe before or on 3rd December will be exempted from the new offers which Reliance will establish from that date. The company has not yet revealed what the new offers will be.

What differentiates Reliance Jio from all the other networks is its promise to never charge anything for voice call and only for data services and its range of content services.

Naturally, it has managed to gain the envy of all the other top networks such as Vodafone and Idea who have over 400 million subscribers between them.

I’m still not sure how Reliance is offering such unreal offers. If they only charge a small amount even after 31st December, then it cannot be long before they have the monopoly of the telecom market.

They’ve even managed to limit the damage from the allegations of rival companies. It would take a blunder for them to fail now. No wonder other networks are trying their best to bring Jio down, they’d go bankrupt if this carries on.

And to make thing worse, TRAI has recommended imposing a fine of Rs. 3050 crores on Airtel, Vodafone and Idea for denying interconnectivity to Reliance Jio. The other telecom operators just cannot catch a break.

Let’s leave this battle of the networks to the telecom companies. Meanwhile, what are you waiting for? Go and get you Jio sim before the 3rd of December!
