Do you know our emotions have the capacity to affect our health not just psychologically but physically too?  That our mind and body are connected? Can you believe every emotion we contain in ourselves shows on our body?

“I had a client who had been brought up in a household where they believed everything was wrong and could only get worse. His main joy in life was playing tennis, and then he hurt his knee. He went to every doctor he could find, and it only got worse. Finally, he could not play at all.”

This is an excerpt from Louis Hay’s bestselling book ‘You Can Heal Your Life’ where she talks about how a simple belief can resist one from recovering.

That is how strong an impact; emotions and beliefs cause on our health. The book deals with why it happens and how we can change it with new thinking patterns.

How can my emotions affect my body?

What are you thinking or feeling right now? Positive or negative? Does it persist and affect your thoughts all the time?

What happens finally is that your inner thoughts show up in your day-to-day life situations, which creates emotions in you about yourself which affect your health.

For e.g. If I have constant thoughts like, “What is wrong with the world?”, “Why is everyone after my life” I feel an emotion of anger and frustration. I am actually trapping negative energy in my body, the only way it comes out is then in form of diseases.

The Probable Causes and Where do they come from:

Longing for love, Defeatism, family friction, Denial, Guilt etc are a few of the probable causes which affect your body.

The real problem lies where we are not ready to let go of our thoughts. We cannot alter our emotions but we can change the thoughts that lead us there.

Past beliefs, resistance to change etc are a few reasons why our thoughts seem to never let go of us.

How will change happen?

Generally, we think that our belief system is based on what is true for us. But it’s not so, what we believe is generally a product of what belief we learnt as a child or what others told us. Our belief system is based on someone else’s opinion.

If we want change to occur we must let go of our stubbornness once and for all. We must change our thinking, speaking, functioning, handling of situations and everything we do for ourselves.

Evolve a new thinking pattern:

To put it in simpler words, that is just a positive way to see life.

For eg. A thought you have about yourself of ‘worrying of not being good enough’.

Serve yourself with words like: ‘ I rejoice in my own expression of life. I am perfect just as I am. I love and approve of myself.’
