The season 2016-17 has been an amazing one for global football. There have been some crazy, inspiring or just simply ecstatic football moments which have kept us glued to this beautiful game.

As the season draws close, we bring to you the most controversial and genius football moments from this season! Enjoy :

#1. Cristiano Ronaldo Leads Real Madrid To Another UEFA Champions League Final With His Stunning Goals:

It’s fair to admit that if it wasn’t for Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid wouldn’t have made it to their 3rd Champions League final in 4 years.

Ronaldo Football Moments vs Atletico

When it comes to producing football moments of pure genius and sheer heroics, Cristiano Ronaldo fired on all cylinders as he scored 5 goals against Bayern Munich and 3 goals against Atletico Madrid to make sure that Real Madrid has a chance to make European history.

Clutch player? Indeed. King? Yes, sir.

#2. Chelsea Rise Like A Phoenix To Win The Premier League, Thanks To Antonio Conte’s Genius:

After a torrid season and 2 managerial changes, Chelsea began the season under their extremely talented and enthusiastic coach, Antonio Conte.

The man with a plan, Antonio Conte.

Conte produced football moments of pure spectacle via his Chelsea squad, who rejuvenated his squad with his 3-4-3 formation and made the Premier League winners.

Eden Hazard had a fantastic season under Conte and further cemented his place among the best players in the world.

#3. AS Monaco Surprise Everyone With Their Attacking Display And Have A Memorable Domestic And European Season:

It’s always nice to see when a team of young talent plays like they have nothing to lose with full-on attacking intent and plenty of beautiful footballing skills.

Such was the team of AS Monaco this year, as they became the highest scorers as a team in all the top European leagues and won the Ligue 1 (French Premier League) and broke the dominance of Paris St. Germain in France.

The team also finished respectably in the UEFA Champions League as they ended the season being European semi-finalists.

At the helm of their football moments were their two star forwards, the Tiger of Europe a.k.a Radamel Falcao and the young and extremely talented Kylian Mbappe (who’s only 18 and scored 26 goals in a single season. WOW!).

Surely, one can expect Monaco to do even better next season.

#4. Manchester United Fail To Secure Any Major Trophy Despite Major Signings, Be It A Manager Like Mourinho Or A Player Like Pogba:

The Red Devils spent over 200 million pounds in one season to bring in names like Jose Mourinho as their manager and names like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Eric Bailly and finally, the big man from France for a staggering 120 million, Paul Pogba.

The season ended in utter disappointment for Manchester United as the only amazing football moments which they could produce came in the Europa League, with United playing in the final of the same competition this season.

Domestically, United ended the season in a disappointing 6th place finish with a record of 17 draws throughout the season.

Does the next season look any different for United? Here’s hoping.

#5. Tottenham And Atletico Madrid Bid Goodbye To Their Old Stadiums, Yet In Very Different Fashions:

It was an emotional season for Tottenham fans as they finished the season in a respectable 2nd place in the English Premier League and had an INCREDIBLE HOME RECORD FOR BEING UNDEFEATED at the White Hart Lane.

On a similar note, it wasn’t as awe-inspiring for Atletico Madrid as they lost their final domestic derby in La Liga to Real Madrid, courtesy to a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick.

In Europe, it was a bittersweet experience as they won 2-1 against Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League but were eliminated anyway as Cristiano Ronaldo had scored a hat-trick in the 1st leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.

But well, here’s wishing both the teams good luck in their new stadiums!

So, that’s our take on this season’s most headline-worthy football moments!

See you next season, folks!
