Alabama Teacher Gives 8th Graders Racist and Sexual Quiz As Retirement Gift

-

A language arts teacher from Alabama was sent away on ‘administrative leave’ after she slapped her students with a math quiz that was, inappropriate, to say the least. Her eighth-graders were in for a rather unorthodox test of their learning when their English teacher handed out a math test. Even more so when the questions that came were as follows:

“Leroy has 2 ounces of cocaine. If he sells an 8 ball to Antonio for $320 and 2 grams to Juan for $85 per gram, what is the street value of the rest of his hold?”

“Tyrone knocked up 4 girls in the gang. There are 20 girls in his gang. What is the exact percentage of girls Tyrone knocked up?”

“Dwayne pimps 3 ho’s. If the price is $85 per trick, how many tricks per day must each ho turn to support
Dwayne’s $800 per day crack habit?”

BAD TEACHER?

It is the age of breaking stereotypes and teachers seem to be the forerunners this week. If asked to describe the typical ‘Bad Teacher’, a flurry of expletives with a hedonistic, irresponsible attitude would be the bet. But, the teacher from Alabama has given a whole new definition to the phrase and a who’re’ new meaning to learning. The implicitly racist and offensive content of the questions raised alarm within the student and the parent community and the teacher, who was close to retirement, was sent on administrative leave. The teacher’s name hasn’t been released by the school officials.

If you were a language arts teacher in the 21st century, what would you do just before retirement? Treat your students? Give no homework? Well, I personally wouldn’t venture into the deep abyss that is Arithmetic, but I also wouldn’t dare go against the foundations of my own subject. Yes, the quiz was plagiarized. At one point of time, that seems to be a bigger crime for a language teacher.

This particular Math Test has been in circulation online for more than 20 years now and our Alabama educator broke a sacred commandment by availing it. If she wanted to do something rash just before retiring, why choose something that has already gotten others in trouble previously?

I thought originality was the edifice of literature, and an English teacher would be the last one to forget this.

Definitely a bad teacher.
