9 Styling Tips For Monsoons That Will Keep You High And Dry

-

Finally monsoons hit the country and especially the people who stay in Delhi must know how desperately we have been waiting for the monsoon to arrive. But now that they are here, there comes a new set of problems!

Every morning when you see raindrops on your window, you need to change your plans about what you are going to wear because what you thought about last night does not suit the monsoon. This wastes another 15 minutes of yours where you first choose and then iron your clothes and according to them you pick up your footwear.

Relax! To make your choice easier in the morning, here is a list of some basic styling tips for you ladies during the monsoon season!

1) AVOID SALWARS, PATIALAS AND LONG SKIRTS
Ladies, sure Indian outfits make you look really sexy! But the rains might screw it up for you. They will easily get dirty with all the mud around and you might fall.
Wear leggings with your kurti instead. They look equally good.

2) AVOID WEARING WHITE
Or light colours basically. They might become transparent if wet. Moreover they get dirty very easily.

3) AVOID ANYTHING LEATHER
Leather shoes soak water and are difficult to dry. Try something like sneakers, flats or jelly shoes which have a firm grip and you won’t slip. Even leather or cloth bags for that matter. They tend to get soggy.

4) DO NOT LEAVE YOUR HAIR OPEN
Leaving them open makes them frizzy and messy. Tie a neat bun or a ponytail. Otherwise a braid is always the best way to keep your hair intact.

5) WEAR WRINKLE FREE FABRICS
Lycra and polyester always look spic and span as they bear no creases and are very easy to clean and dry.

6) WEAR MINIMAL ACCESSORIES
That too, only fake plastic earrings or necklaces. Do not wear silver jewellery as it blackens due to the atmosphere.

7) DO AWAY WITH DENIMS
Denims take a long time to dry. Moreover, they might be too tight or sticky for the humidity. Pick something relatively easy on your skin.

8) ALWAYS KEEP A SMALL HAND TOWEL
The moment you reach your destination, a normal handkerchief may not really help as much as a hand towel.

9) BUY A RAINCOAT
Let’s face it, umbrellas do not protect us from the rains as much as a raincoat. And pick a the next size to the one that fits you, shielding you completely.

Now you know. So happy monsoon! Go get some chai and biscuit now!
