Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid made and shattered some glorious milestones as Real Madrid marched on to a 4-1 victory after going one goal down in the early stages.
The match started in a typical fashion of Los Blancos as they bossed the possession in the early stages and looked to break the defence with strategic passing and crosses.
Surprisingly enough, the first chance of the game fell to Alaves in the 7th minute as they took control of the ball via Camarasa who whipped the ball into the box. The ball was palmed away by Keylor Navas but it fell to Deyverson who made easy work of slotting it home.
Alaves were 1-0 up and Deyverson had already scored against the top 2 teams in the league, Barcelona and now, Real Madrid.
It didn’t take much time for Real Madrid to equalize, though. In the 17th minute, Real Madrid earned a free kick which was taken by Gareth Bale. It was hit straight into the wall and it clipped the hand of the opposition player, resulting in a handball and therefore, a direct penalty.
The decision was rather jeered by the home support for obvious reasons but needless to say, a decision can’t be overruled. Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up to the occasion and perfectly dispatched the spot kick, sending the keeper the wrong way and scoring his 1st goal of the night.
It was 1-1. Madrid were level. With this goal, Cristiano celebrated his 350 career league goals with Sporting CP, Manchester United and Real Madrid.
Real Madrid had to make an early change as Pepe was forced to be substituted after sustaining a possible injury.
Madrid put their foot on the gas after that and never looked back. The 2nd goal scored yet again by Ronaldo in the 33rd minute and it was something straight out of his majestic goals catalogue.
The Portuguese received a pass from Benzema and 2 touches later on the left wing, unleashed a reaper of a shot from 25 yards into the far post and into the back of the net with the keeper nowhere near around it. The ball had taken a minor deflection but it wouldn’t have made any difference as Ronaldo’s shot was already on target.
The star man was back among the goals and in some style.
Alaves did tend to threaten in the 47th minute but it was Navas who made a superb save from Camarasa to keep the scoreline in Madrid’s favour.
Madrid continued to dominate possession and pass around the box until in the 78th minute, they were given another penalty as this time, Ronaldo was brought down inside the box and the foul was much clear.
However, Ronaldo was denied his hat-trick as his penalty which was hit in the same corner as the last was saved by the keeper.
Nevertheless, Madrid had sealed the game in the 83rd minute when Marcelo clipped a pass for the late super-sub Alvaro Morata who chipped the ball over the keeper to score a lovely finish and put Madrid ahead by 3-1.
And finally, Cristiano Ronaldo had the last say as the star man combined with some slick passing with Marcelo before rounding a player inside the box and scoring his 3rd goal of the night.
It was game. Set. Match. Cristiano Ronaldo had scored his 43rd career hat-trick.
Real Madrid maintained their hold at the top of the table and took all the 3 points. Records just keep on tumbling for the Los Blancos.
