The recent buzz on release of eighth addition to the Harry Potter Series : Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, almost a week ago, brought our attention back to the Harry Potter fandom. The HP fandom has grown over the years, it’s one of the most followed series (both the books and the movies!).
The origin of the HP film series was rather humble. Late in 1997, film producer David Heyman’s London offices had received a copy of the first book in what would become Rowling’s series of seven Harry Potter novels. The book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, was relegated to a low-priority bookshelf, where it was discovered by a secretary who read it and gave it to Heyman with a positive review.
Consequently, Heyman, who had originally disliked “the rubbish title”, read the book himself. Heyman, highly impressed by Rowling’s work began the process that led to one of the most successful cinematic franchises and ever growing fandoms of all time!
With many of the Potterheads still waiting for their letter to Hogwarts and many others wishing the series wouldn’t have ended, we at ED decided to ask some Potterheads what the fandom and series mean to them for ED’s Voxpop!
The replies truly depict how much everyone loves J. K. Rowling for the world of magic she gave us.
