Breaking News Automotive fans! The next-generation Ford Figo hatchback and Ford Figo compact sedan have been spied testing with little camouflage in Gujarat, India. Take a look at these exclusive pictures.
Earlier, US giant Ford unveiled new Ford Figo and Figo Sedan with the name Ka and Ka+ in Brazilian market which is expected to make its way to India too by the first quarter of 2015. The cars will be manufactured at Ford’s Sanand plant in Gujarat.
FORD KA/UPDATED FIGO:
Ford says the Ka concept highlights “bold design, quality engineering and innovative technologies”, and added that it will be “a new choice for entry-level urban customers”.
Looks: The Ka looks bigger than the Figo hatchback. The bigger headlamps, wider and refreshed hexagonal grille, halogen bulb, multi-reflector headlamps, halogen-bulb equipped tail-lights and new alloy-wheels are new to Ka. The Mk5 Fiesta platform will be made lighter for the car by using thinner, but stronger steel panels all around the car which in turn will make the car more efficient and capable of providing a peppy drive. The rear end of the car features a spoiler and large tail lamps.
Power mills: The production version of the Ka can use the 1.0-litre three-cylinder EcoBoost petrol engine that we earlier saw in Ford Ecosport. The diesel version can continue to derive power from the 1.4 litre/1.5L TDCI engine. The engine would come mated to five-speed manual gearbox and car would give a fuel efficiency of 13-15 kmpl. Automatic gearbox could also be offered in the top-end variants.
We don’t have any sure updates about the interior of the car but the price range where Ka can land is 5-7 lakhs.
FORD KA+/UPDATED FIGO SEDAN:
Looks: Figo Sedan (Ka+), a sub-4 meter sedan hasn’t been changed much after being showcased at the Indian Auto Expo. Ford Figo Concept Sedan has got stylish and eye-catching exterior with some remarkable features which includes its wide chrome induced trapezoidal front grille with four horizontal slats, day time running LEDs, 8 spoke 17 inch alloy wheels and boomerang shaped rear headlamps engraved in subtle and sleek bumpers.
Power mills: Ka+ can also be powered by the same 1.0-litre three cylinder flex-fuel engine, which is tuned to produce 85 hp of power and 105 Nm of torque mated to five-speed manual and optional automatic gearbox. The Ka+ can also have 1.2L petrol engine. As far as diesel in concerned, sedan can also be up with another 1.4/1.5 liter diesel engine generating maybe close to 111 hp.The new sedan Ka+ is expected to have features like steering mounted audio controls, Bluetooth connectivity and SYNC. We can also see this car replacing the Ford Fiesta Classic.
The price range where Ka+ may belong to is 7-8 lakhs.
This could be facing the rivals from Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, the Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and Tata Zest. The Figo is already popular in India as a value for money, spacious and fun-to-drive hatchback so it will be interesting to see what Ford comes up with, but we have high hopes for the 2015 Ford Figo and Figo Sedan.
